马克·吐温（Mark Twain, 1835-1910），美国作家，原名塞缪尔?朗赫恩?克莱门斯，出生于密苏里州佛罗里达镇，长在密西西比河上小城汉尼拔。马克?吐温生当美国文艺复兴时期，早年曾做过排字工，并开始写作幽默故事。后在密西西比河上做水手，内战期间一度参加南军，这些经历都为他日后的创作积淀了丰富的养分。1864年，他发表了《卡拉韦拉斯县的跳蛙》，因其独特的本土风格一举成名，随后又创作大量中短篇小说和《汤姆?索亚历险记》、《哈克贝利?费恩历险记》、《在密西西比河上》等优秀的长篇小说，为美国本土文学的发展奠定了坚实的基础。 　　马克·吐温十分熟悉美国内陆底层民众的生活，在语言的运用上能够把方音、土语融入其中，创造出鲜活的美洲土生土长的文学语言，是名副其实的语言大师。
