编写本书的缘由和主旨
科技类文章是雅思学术类阅读考试中出现频率*高的类型，也是考生阅读的难点。北京语言大学出国留学人员培训部对其雅思培训班学员的一次阅读模拟考试中的错题做了统计，发现所错的题大部分为科技类文章的题：在平均含15道题的科技类文章阅读中，平均答对率为6.3题，仅有1/3的考生答对半数以上的题，*好的（2人）答对10题，*差的仅答对2题。说明科技类文章是雅思阅读中的难点，也是阻碍考生取得阅读好成绩的瓶颈。
为此，我们编写了《雅思科技文阅读》，其主旨是：（1）通过总结雅思科技类文章的特点和阅读难点，帮助考生掌握阅读策略和解题方法；（2）选用题材及难度与真实考试相当的文章，并精心设计题目，为考生提供有效的实战训练；（3）让考生通过学习本书来提高自身的语言基础，特别是扩大学术和科技英语词汇量。
