I ExampIe l:Describe an Occasion when you met someone who was boring or a nuisance.
1. Last summer I went to visit an aunt who lives'in Beijing. I went by train. The train was not very
full and I got into an empty compartment and started to read. Just before the train left the station, a young
man who looked like a businessman got into the same compartment. Shortly after the train started, he
began to talk. He talked about his work and went on telling me about the people who bought cars from him
in many different towns and cities. I became very bored. I pretended to have a friend who was in the
restaurant car. I took my book and went to the restaurant car and stayed there for the rest of the journey.
2. A friend, who lives some distance from me, came round one evening with his cousin. My friend
went to a meeting and left his cousin with me. This man, who had never met me before, began talking
about a book. The book was very uninteresting, but he went on talking about it. I tried to change the
subj.eot of the conversation, but he kept on talking about this dreadful book. When I offered him some
coffee, he refused but I insisted and escaped into the kitchen.
